This is a story of a climb of Kilimanjaro back in 1972, before the big increase in the number of groups climbing the mountain, at a time when there was much more snow and ice on the top.
It is by Polly Rigby, who climbed with Robin Cole, (both ex SUMC), and Hugh Cole, brother to Robin. Also Trendy Furnace, who was teacher with Robin at Kibosho School, Kilimanjaro.
They took the Umbwe Route and this story provides a vivid account of the changing scenery and the unfolding experience.< Back to Tanzania page for links to other stories
