This is the largest country in the world, spanning much of eastern Europe and extending across Asia to the Pacific Ocean.
There must be endless walking opportunities through the countryside, easy walks around the cities and long distance treks through remote mountains. Probably the infrastructure isn't well developed, but who knows? We need some stories from people who have been there!
To start things off, from another source, there's this fascinating and useful article from the Guardian on 10 May 2008 by Felicity Carus about her climb of Mount Elbrus - Europe's highest mountain. It's 5,642m high, in the Caucasus near the border with Georgia, and involved a 9-day trip. Covered with snow it may seem challenging but Felicity says it doesn't require any technical skills.
