This small sultanate in the east of the Arabian peninsula may be an unusual place to consider for a walking holiday, but it has rugged mountains and a gorge to rival the Grand Canyon where trekking is now being promoted. That's according to this article by Les Dunn from the Guardian of 7 June 2008. He stays in Bedouin-style tents and visits villages and towns as well as the rocky mountains. His trip was organised by Desert Thunder.
It sounds different, colourful, hot and dusty, and worth a visit!
